Quiz results.

• Chem quiz too was not so good, I mean less than average. The thermo quiz was so easy that almost everyone got the only question correct. So that doesnt matter much. In the maths quiz I was pretty satisfied to get 7/10 though the average of our section was 7.25.

• Submitted the chm Home assignment 1. Hey that was a great task. After i missedd to submit the assignment at the time, I sort if gave up. But in the quiz the utmost courtesyof my tutor forced me to do it. I asked his Lab address and reached up there after 2 days. There I could'nt find his face. Now "I was confused". I even didn't knew his name. How to ask for him? But finally I managed to give it to a person saying that I have to submit the CHM201 assignment. Lets hope it reached the right man.
  

Photography at Air-strip

• My Hero Neon bicycle is a miracle. Its tyres get flat without notice and without reason.

Anyways me, Vatsheel and Rajiv went to the planned to get to air-strip at IITK. Usually only some of glidders ownned by the institute. We three reached up at around 5:30. Rajiv on his cycle and I doubling with Vatsheel's.
As we reached a glidder was up in the air taking the rounds of the strip so we could'nt walk on it. But soon it came down to landing when we shot this.


Note the front fans of the glidder are rotating.

Then there was some photography on the air-strip and an animal called "neel gaay".

And when we were returning I noticed a bird on the line wire and stopped everyone to capture it.

• Got a snap of another unknown bird in front of my hostel room. It was not as such a beauty but I snapped because it was an uncommon species. Posted the above pic too on indianaturewatch.net and left a caption asking people its species name.

Quiz Time

After giving the maths quiz on friday and wasting the next 2 days now is the time to prepare for further quizes. Coming up is Electrical quiz tomorrow and Thermo and chem. quiz on wednesday.
Im currently miserable in chemistry. Lets hope for the best.

I've always looked on Shantanu as a guy who makes everybody laugh, a PJ king, a serious observer, a funny commentator, and a great intellectual  educated guy. Never knew that he might ever know me like that.

On Cards Again!

On cards again. this time it was bridge. I used to be fascinated by this game from the time I came to know in 11th class that Ghatak Sir is international player of bridge.

The bridge club at IIT Kanpur was organising a workshop on bridge at 10:00 in hall 3 mess. 5 of us, me , Kala, Aman, Ashank, AmitC went to the workshop today. Me and Aman having played a similar game in summers were fast to learn. Chandra was just looking blank but always trying(thats the thing which differentiates an IITian!).
Having learn t about bidding and that bidding is the most important part of the game we started playing the game. Rest of the game play ws very similar to the 29 game that we used to play in summers.
During the game, I and others too were irritated by the other 2nd yea guys there calling us bachhe (they were thinking that we were freshers). But kala straight forwardly clarifed their doubt.

A week gone and My Birthday Party

Hey hey! Its nearly week i had written any post. Now there are many guys on geeky-rubbish and it seems a blog more professional. So I prefer posting here and my life@blog Blog.

Anyways, here is a jeat of the week. I went for a 5 day trip to home because I was not able to be at home for Rakhi. These IITK ppl dont give holiday on Rakhi. After doing welding in the  TA201 lab I was too exhausted (physically and emotionally) to catch a train. That forced me to wait till morning of next day. woke up at 4:45 to catch the Puri Express at 6:40. The journey experience is here.

I came back at IITK on 16th evening. Then all hairs straight up for the maths quiz on 18th. And like every year I was on fast for Janmashthmi(on 16th Aug.)i. This time i did the pooja in the morning at home and then left for kanpur on 16th. Then went to hall 4 to attend the Janmashthmi program.


On 16th night I was at hall4. This was the time I was supposed to be in my wing to accept the legs and chappals of my wingmates on my bums as prashad of my birthday. So the whole program was postponed. Catch the action below.



Then I was surprised by the birthday cake. Now ths was something unbelievable for me! I was stunned.



Then me and Kala had cake-bath.





And today we had a treat at hall 4 canteen that costed me around Rs. 550. A fair deal for the amount of happy times 21 people had there together.

Bahut kameena banda hai. Bas bakaiti ke alawa ise kuch sujhta hi nahi. Kisi ko frust karna ho to just call him. That was what I thought of him earlier.
But had some other experiences with him in past 1 year. Wasise to he soughts much for the fame and the so called popularity. But then with a complete turn around being very very serious towards his studies. Then again enjoying with you to the fullest in the very next moment. And sometimes discussing about his past experiences, often of that which he had with girls (something which he says he is devoid of now in almost non-female comunity of IITK). Seems that he had tried out many things in his life. And learned from them too. Had many ups and downs.
He was really having bad time last year (getting a sem-drop in the very first semester is quite a bit depresssing). But then as I said earlier, coming back with a completely new outlook and even more stronger determination amd performing good in academicss and extra-curriculars. Caries enormous amount of energies (both tamed and untamed). And a guy with great determination. I wonder from where does he draws such enormous amount of motivation even! Believe me friends I really mean it.
And how can I forget his one of the most important characteristic: his unique and unprecedented ability (style or whatever you say) to flatter to the utmost or frustrate to the utmost, almost anyone on earth.

Ragging Juniors

Its ragging time. But this time Im on the other side of the fence. From last two 5 days juniors are being ragged. I can see in the faces I saw and the face that I was last year.

My Photo blog

Recently I started a photo blog on my iitk webspace. Currently it is in html so Im having hard time formattimg them and giving caption to them. But I will make it in frontpage. All the pics are from my Samsung Digital Camera.
Also created an acount on indianaturewatch.net . A great site for posting pics. Most on them are of wildlife. And guess who is the owner of the site? Kalyan Verma. The same Kalyan Verma who came to IITK to take a workshop on hacking last year in techkriti. The man is a great photographer too. He was among the top 10 entries for the BBC contest of wildlife photographer of the year. Im great fan of him.
I sent him a personal messege regarding some tips on photography and strangely I got his reply

Welding at TA201 Lab

• Today was a very frustrating day. Got a real kick on ass at TA201 mme lab. I was supposed to do the welding. The instructor was very friendly. Strangely enough he talked much of non-academics unlike most proffs in IITK. The definition of meditation given by him: Meditation is thinking about nothing.

Then up with the welding (Gas welding and Brazing). eehiii! Pahle to 3300 degree temp. dekhte hi meri watt lag gai. At last I came up with a miserable welded piece of metal strips. It was really a weird piece. I thought may be the next 4 months in this course are going to be similar to adjective used for the metal weld![:(]

• Right now Im making paper plane from the AME Newsletter. And now its gone flying in the air, like my hopes in my department.

Classes Begun

Classes begun here at IITK. A completely different earth here as compared to home at allahabad.
A packed schedule from 8:00 in the morning till 5:00 in the evening.on 3 days a week. and 8:00 till 1:00 two days. The only positive thing is that we get 2 weekends off.
